Oy Suomen EDM Ab was founded in 1980. In the beginning the business was resale of electrical discharge machines and consumables for the machines. From this originates the name Suomen EDM (“Suomen” means of Finland).
In the year 1989 the company started to sell components for stamping tools such as standard punches, tool springs, guidings etc.
Suomen EDM started with own production in 1992 when the first grinding machine for punches was bought. In the mid 1990´s several other machines including the first wire cut machine was installed which enabled production of other parts than punches.
In the beginning of the 21st century Suomen EDM started to offer also subcontracting work as to customer´s drawings. More machines were bought and the unique 3D laser machining service started.
Today Suomen EDM offers a wide variety of standard components for tool makers as well as subcontracting services with high precision and good quality. We upgrade our machine park continuously.
The founder Erling Filip Y Åman is still with us in the company.
